Upper West Market on Collier Road and Ardmore Park Access

October 8, 2026

"What if we didn't look to get rent from the farmers and the local producers and just see if the parking will subsidize it?" Ben Hautt asked. He founded Upper West Market, and he described its business model to Buckhead.com in August. "And so that's what we did. We charge the normal Atlanta $3-an-hour rate, and all the farmers get subsidized."

The market is at 1385 Collier Road NW, on the far side of I-75 from Ardmore Park. Discover Atlanta calls it the first indoor farmers market to open in the city of Atlanta. Hautt also points out that people who walk or bike in skip the parking fee: "So this location has all this connectivity." For Ardmore Park, that connection is now under construction. The trail segment that would link the neighborhood to the BeltLine broke ground on September 10, 2026. Until it opens, a visit from Ardmore runs on the parking side of Hautt's model.

How the parking pays the farmers

The building is a 9,000-square-foot former warehouse with 35 open-air stalls. Some vendors have permanent spots. Local farmers can sell day to day, paying the same daily rate they would pay at a regular outdoor market rather than monthly rent. The building has a past, too. A rooster near the restrooms is a nod to Cagle's, the poultry company that built and first used the facility.

The market opened later than planned. Hautt originally aimed for summer 2025, and regulatory work pushed that back nearly a year. The project needed approvals from the City of Atlanta, the Georgia Department of Agriculture and the Fulton County Health Department, and Hautt said much of it had never been done before. The grand opening was August 1, 2026. In the first week, traffic peaked around lunch. That led to a plan to program mornings, afternoons and, once the bar opens, nights.

The rent-free model also explains who is on the floor. Hautt said several vendors are opening their first brick-and-mortar store here after years of setting up and tearing down every Saturday. He named Woodland Wellness, Prana Kitchens, Bellwood Coffee and Georgia Peach Truck.

What is on the floor this fall

The most recent full list of open stalls comes from the AJC's guide, published August 18, 2026. Some stalls rotate, so check what is in on a given day.

For the weekly shop

  • White Oak Pastures sells cuts from its family-run regenerative farm in Bluffton, Georgia. Its stall is an exact replica of the farm's general store.
  • Georgia Peach Truck carries seasonal Georgia produce and pantry goods.
  • Garnish & Gather sells prepackaged meals, pantry goods and produce.
  • Noble Honey Company and Prana Kitchens cover honey and Ayurvedic spice blends.
  • Pet Wants stocks pet food, treats and supplies.

For eating on site

  • Tiendita comes from the team behind El Ponce. On weekends it adds El Ponce breakfast burritos, tamales and fresh Molino tortillas.
  • Dips Kitchen serves dips like artichoke and burrata, plus hot "fried" chicken.
  • Bellwood Coffee runs a cart with drip coffee and lattes.
  • Honeysuckle Gelato sells pints and gelato sandwiches.
  • Xocolatl makes small-batch chocolate.

For the house

  • Le Kiosque by Le Jardin Français sells bouquets and plants.
  • Pantry by Mikel carries tableware and kitchen goods.
  • Woodland Wellness, Ginger Yums and 68th & Monroe offer elixirs, tea blends, fresh-pressed juice and skincare.

As of the AJC's August guide, three tenants were still due in the following weeks: The Boiler Room by Hop City, a wine and cocktail bar in a room next to the main market; Island Seafood ATL, a fish market with a raw oyster bar; and Bodyrok, a Pilates-style studio. We found no confirmation that any of them had opened by early October. The Boiler Room will be Hop City's first wine bar.

The market's posted hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Summerland keeps its own hours

The market's anchor restaurant is Summerland, from chef Anne Quatrano of Bacchanalia and Star Provisions. It is named for Summerland Farm, her family's 60-acre farm in Cartersville, which has been running for five generations. Executive chef Faye Poon, who worked with Quatrano at Bacchanalia and Floataway Cafe, runs it day to day. The menu includes cottage cheese pancakes with seasonal fruit compote, brodo with pastina, a ploughman's lunch and chicken schnitzel. For dessert there is a Georgia peanut and popcorn sundae.

Summerland's hours have changed since it opened in late July. Rough Draft Atlanta listed it as open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The restaurant's current page lists Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That leaves Monday and Tuesday without the anchor restaurant, even though the market itself is open. The July coverage said afternoon tea would launch "later this fall." It has not been announced as of this writing.

A corner that avoids Howell Mill

Hautt chose the site partly for what it is not. "It's a great little nook," he said. "I think people don't realize how close it is to Pace, Westminster and Lovett. And it's also away from a lot of the craziness on Howell Mill."

The Collier Road and Howell Mill Road corner had already picked up a new stop earlier this summer. The Chai Box Cafe opened in June at 1963 Howell Mill Road NW. It brews chai to order and also serves filter coffee and fusion pastries. With the market a short way down Collier, the far side of I-75 now has a morning stop and a midday market close together.

The mile that changes how Ardmore gets there

Northwest Trail Segment 3B is about one mile long. It broke ground on September 10, 2026, and it finishes the 1.2-mile Segment 3, which runs from Trabert Avenue to Tanyard Creek Park. Atlanta BeltLine names Ardmore among five neighborhoods the segment will connect to the trail network, along with Underwood Hills, Collier Hills, Loring Heights and Channing Valley.

From west to east, the route works like this:

  1. A new pedestrian bridge crosses Northside Drive.
  2. The trail runs through the Atlanta Technology Center property.
  3. An elevated structure carries it under I-75.
  4. It follows the Tanyard Creek concrete channel to Tanyard Creek Park.

At the groundbreaking, Mayor Andre Dickens explained why the segment is unusual: "Segment 3B will create vital connections through an area where the trail cannot simply follow the former rail corridor." The western end ties into Segment 3A, which opened in July 2025 beside The Grove, Monday Night Brewing's indoor-outdoor taproom.

CBS News Atlanta reported that completion is expected in late fall 2028. Treat that date as a forecast. When the segment opens, the walk-and-bike access Hautt describes will reach Ardmore by way of Tanyard Creek Park. We've written before about how the BeltLine already shapes Ardmore Park and about the Tanyard Creek stretch next door in Collier Hills. Segment 3B is the piece that crosses I-75.

An October Saturday that works now

Until the trail opens, a Saturday can still cover both sides of the highway. Atlanta Memorial Park parkrun moves to 9 a.m. from October through April. The market opens earliest on Saturday. Trees Atlanta and the Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy have a forest restoration volunteer day on the calendar for October 24.

Saturday stop Time Where
Upper West Market opens 8 a.m. 1385 Collier Road NW
Atlanta Memorial Park parkrun 9 a.m., October–April Atlanta Memorial Park
Summerland opens 9 a.m., Wednesday–Sunday Inside Upper West Market
Trees Atlanta restoration day 9 a.m.–noon, October 24 Atlanta Memorial Park
Summerland closes 3 p.m. Inside Upper West Market
Upper West Market closes 6 p.m. 1385 Collier Road NW

The market is also planning bigger events for the holidays. Hautt promised Thanksgiving and Christmas programming, including "Santa, the whole deal," along with story time at the book nook and cooking classes. No dates have been posted yet. The Conservancy's other big project, The Atlanta Opera's Molly Blank Center for Opera and the Arts in Atlanta Memorial Park, is scheduled for completion in fall 2027. That is about a year before Segment 3B's expected finish.

Projects like Segment 3B change how close-in streets connect to the rest of the city, and they come up in conversations about value long before they open.
